You will often find it in groups in woodland areas where they are able to get more sunlight. This buttercup often looks disheveled, sporting deformed petals and sometimes it never grows any petals at all! The Goldilocks Buttercup is usually the first in its family to flower, as soon as the leaf canopy begins to close up in woodland areas it will start to die back. The majority of buttercups are found across older meadow ground, however there is a little known buttercup called the Goldilocks Buttercup which resides in woodland and hedgerow areas. The most commonly known buttercup is probably Meadow Buttercup which is seen in vast swathes in old pastures across the UK and will grow on the majority of soil types. They are everywhere, from grasslands, to verges to ponds there are many different opinions on buttercup from those who call them a grassland weed to others who view it as a classical plant in a wildflower meadow. There are many different types of buttercup, from the more well known Meadow, Bulbous and Creeping buttercup to the lesser known Goldilocks buttercup. Products available for non-professional use (These products are available from garden centres and DIY stores.Buttercups are probably one the most well known and easily recognisable meadow plants in the UK. Always try and keep chemical use to a minimum. If the weeds are few in number, consider using a spot weeder and just treat the individual plants. Hand weeding can prove effective if the infestation is not too severe, take care to remove the whole plant including the roots and runners.Ĭreeping buttercup is easily controlled with a single treatment of selective weedkiller. Raking the weed into an upright position prior to mowing will help weaken the weed. Promote healthy turf with good turf care practices, such as applying adequate nutrition and carrying out regular scarification & top dressing etc.Īs creeping buttercup is often an indication of poor drainage, practices, such as regular aeration that promote a dry turf surface will help prevent the weed invading. Prevention and control of creeping buttercup More images and free downloads of Creeping Buttercup Roots: This weed has fibrous roots (see image below)Ĭreeping Buttercup Images (click image to enlarge). The main flowering period of creeping buttercup is between May and August. On the underneath side of the petals are 5 green sepals (green floral leaves) that are somewhat shorter than the petals. Each flower consists of between 5 – 7 glossy yellow petals. Measuring 20mm – 30mm across they are borne singular or in clusters on long, hairy stalks. Flowers: The golden yellow flowers are typical of most buttercups. The measure anything from 15mm – 80mm in length. The basal leaves are divided into three segments (leaflets), each segment being deeply cut or lobed. They are dark green, sometimes with pale or dark flecks and are under close inspection covered in fine hairs. Leaves: The leaves are borne on long, hairy stalks ranging from 15mm – 250mm in length.Creeping buttercup can also reproduce from seed. If left undisturbed it can grow to a height of 50cm.Īs its name suggests this invasive weed spreads by stolons (overground runners), rooting at nodes with a deep fibrous root system. It is an invasive weed and can quickly colonise areas of turf. It is particularly troublesome in mown turf as it forms as a low growing rosette that can withstand a low cutting height. It is rare to find it on dry, free draining sites. A presence of creeping buttercup is often a good indicator of the aforementioned symptoms and remedial action needs to be taken to improve the drainage. It prefers heavy wet soils that often suffer from prolonged wetness and water logging. It is an easy weed to recognise with its lovely golden yellow flowers that can add an array of colour if the infestation is widespread. Creeping buttercup is perennial weed and the most common of the buttercups found in turf.

With that said, the fact is that the higher the content of the sheep’s’ milk the better the cheese. The blend minimums are: cow milk 50%, goat milk 30% and sheep milk 10% In general the cows’ milk provides the flavor and acidity while the goats’ milk provides the slightly tart flavor and the whiter color and the sheep milk adds the richness and buttery consistency due to its higher fat content. However the following minimum guidelines are strictly adhered to by the producing dairies. The combination of these three milks varies from season to season based on the weather and the breeding patterns of the goats and sheep. Iberico is made with a blend of pasteurized milk from cows, goats and sheep. It is a crumbly, creamy, open textures cheese and is now extensively used as a base for blending with apricot, ginger and citrus or vine fruits to create unique dessert cheeses. White Stilton is also a protected name cheese and is made in a similar way to its blue cousin – except that no mould spores are added and the cheese would be sold at about 4 weeks of age. More than 10% of output is exported to some 40 countries world-wide. It takes 136 pints milk (78 litres) to make one 17 lb (8kg) Stilton cheese. Every cheese is graded before leaving the dairy to ensure only cheese of the highest quality is marketed under the Stilton name. Over 1 million Stilton cheeses are made each year. Stilton takes its name from the village of the same name in Cambridgeshire although the cheese has never been made there. Stilton is a “protected name” cheese and by law can only be made in the three counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire. There are just 6 dairies in the world licensed to make Stilton cheese. Salons like Changes Beauty Salon offer services that often include haircuts, nails services, waxing, manicures and pedicures. What with all of these elements being interwoven into the fabric of current society as tightly as they are, it's close to impossible for any rational person to conclude snuff films don't exist. (In an extension of the serial killer rumor, some claim these films subsequently found their way into the marketplace.) Rumors about various serial killers videotaping the last moments of their victims abound.A number of horror films use as their premise the making of a snuff film or the discovery of same.Of these, the Faces of Death series is the most widely known. Numerous compilation films in which death scenes - both real and staged - exist. This has led to the creation of some incredible fakes, including the infamous Flower of Flesh and Blood of the "Guinea Pig" series. Society's fascination with gore has led filmmakers to experiment with how realistic they can make a horror scene.Hence, there's no market.Įach of the following four elements contributes to the belief that snuff films exist: However, fears that a market for such offerings exists are unfounded even if the market did exist, the product to satisfy it is not there. This assumption lies at the heart of the belief that the distribution network is in place. The prurience of human nature being what it is, it's not unreasonable to assume if the films existed, there would be those willing to pay to have them. It's not enough to fear there might be one snuff film out there the belief runs strong that a large creation and distribution network is in operation, with children and young people routinely kidnapped then killed while the cameras roll to meet demand and the films of same circulated through this underground to connoisseurs of the genre. (Al Goldstein, publisher of Screw magazine, has a standing offer of $1 million for anyone who can come up with a commercially sold snuff film. Police on three continents routinely investigate films brought to them, and so far this has always been their verdict. Time and again, what is originally decried in the press as a film of a murder turns out, upon further investigation, to be a fake. All the fretting about it aside, not so much as one snuff film has been found. Courses, course descriptions and delivery formats are subject to change. Microsoft has emphatically put that right here, with a new triple camera system. New wide, ultrawide and telephoto rear camerasįor some reason, the original Surface Duo didn’t have any rear cameras. This tweaked version is specifically designed for foldables and devices with larger displays, so it could be another big step for the Duo 2’s software. Rather than the regular Android 12, the Duo 2 (and original Duo) is expected to get Android 12L soon. But you’ll know that already if you’re considering buying one, and the other issues are no longer dealbreakers. This is a direct consequence of the design and unlikely to be fixed in any software updates. When browsing social media or gaming, it’s best just to stick to one. Opting for the latter means some keys will be obscured, a problem which affects most apps that are extended across both screens. A 3.5mm headphone jack would have been nice, but it’s far from a priority these days. Using the latter feels awkward as a result, and you’ll probably miss out on time-sensitive shots.Įlsewhere, ports are kept to a minimum – there’s a single USB-C port, plus space for one SIM card and no expandable storage. You can fold away one of the displays and use it as a single-screen device, you’ll have no access to the rear cameras. The design of the device also makes it difficult to use as a regular smartphone at times. Storing the Duo 2 in your pocket is still possible, just less comfortable than a candybar phone. You could argue that you’re getting two screens for that, but it’s undoubtedly less portable. As well as being much wider and around twice as thick as regular smartphones, it also weighs in at a hefty 284g – that’s up from 250g on the original Duo. However, even when closed, the Surface Duo 2 is still a bulky device. Unlike the original, it’s also available in Obsidian Black. It tends to pick up fingerprint smudges, but that’s less of an issue elsewhere on the glass exterior – especially if you opt for the Glacier White model. The Duo 2’s bezels are noticeably smaller than the original, making it feel more premium and futuristic than before. It’s easy to understand how Microsoft has managed to increase the display size without significant changes to the total footprint of the device. I’ll talk about the quality of these screens in more detail in the next section. That provides a total screen real estate of 8.3in, making it comparable to a small tablet. Near-identical dimensions mask the fact that Microsoft has managed to increase the screen sizes here.īoth panels are now 5.8in, up from 5.6in on the original. It has the same basic form factor as its predecessor, consisting of two displays attached via a strong hinge. Of course, the design of the Duo 2 hasn’t changed since launch. Two 5.8in displays, total screen area 8.3in.But is that enough to make the Duo 2 worth buying in 2022? Following my original review, I spent another week with the device to find out. Though Takeuchi is Asian, it is disappointing that Lizzy Caplan, a non-Asian actress who is doing a great job, is voicing a half-Asian character, especially given fellow animated series Netflix’s BoJack Horseman + Apple TV+’s Central Park’s own similar problematic portrayals. Sometimes the emotional moments feel a bit superficial or resolved in favor of a laugh instead of a more profound exploration (see Reagan’s possible Asperger’s diagnosis + lack of affection by Rand). There are only two BIPOC series regulars out of nine. If “Deep State” is triggering, this may be a no-go on premise alone. Creator Shion Takeuchi (and fellow EP Alex Hirsch) of Gravity Falls definitely take cues from other animated series, probably most especially Futurama to the benefit + detriment of this series. The character archetypes are more expected than innovative, and the supporting characters are woefully underdeveloped, with the possible exception being Glenn but only by a hair more than the others. Some of the jokes are too rapidfire, relying too heavily on cultural references that fly by too quickly. Best of all is Clark Duke’s yes-man Brett, a basic cishet white bootlicker whose basic cishet white bootlicking is the point but whose approachable fratbro-ness contrasts with Reagan’s robot-assisted inflexibility. Chris Diamantopoulos’ ROBOTUS is best when it gets a bit more histrionic in its love of Friends than trying to annihilate the human race. Suzy Nakamura, Alex Hirsch, and Ron Funches all put in nice appearances. is funniest when he’s doing damage control, especially with his Rand rivalry. Andre, and Brett Gelman’s sarcastic mushroom psychic Magic Myc don’t really get much development so far other than one-liners, while John DiMaggio’s half-dolphin supersoldier Glenn gets a bit more to do. Lizzy Caplan is a fun lead as Reagan, giving a lot to her evil genius machinations, navigating toxic corporate culture, and managing her conspiracy theorist dad Rand (a game Christian Slater), whose position she is overtaking. Tisha Campbell’s gossipy PR maven Gigi, Bobby Lee’s narcotics addict biochemist Dr. As a workplace comedy, the series also criticizes difficult bosses and the overt sexism that makes a company hire an unqualified (white, straight) male help a “difficult” female boss. There are also a group of mysterious overlords + a sentient android meant to replace a moronic president (not visually coded as 45 but certainly not out of line). The animation style also lends itself well to big setpieces like a clone war, a Face/Off style face swap between a human + a mutant, and a lizard person getting his arms ripped off after praising Guillermo del Toro for promoting the lizard agenda with The Shape of Water. However, the series also seeks to comment on the commodification of conspiracy theories for corporate interests as well as government ones. It’s not just zany energy for chicanery but also grounds itself with bits on emotional trauma + family relations. Inside Job assails virtually a great number of hoaxes: Sasquatch the moon landing secret societies/cults famous clones and sheeple, moth-men, and lizard people. Netflix’s newest adult animated workplace comedy is an absolutely bonkers rollercoaster through some of the wildest conspiracy theories out there. Conspiracy theorists have gained even more traction in the era of social media obsession, allowing virtually anyone with an internet connection to say whatever they want as fact. |
